The state of families in the 21st century
There would be numerous family conflicts that could have been completely prevented if the members of the family were aware of their specific responsibilities, according to the way the Lord designed their role. The Lord designed the family in a certain way. Not all families are the same, but somehow the functions of each member of the family must be addressed in order to ensure the integrity in this social unit.
Satan would always attack the family. More than anything else, Satan wants the family to be broken because of the ripple effect it can cause in society and in the individuals involved. While the Lord has a destiny for each person, but when the family is broken, there are hurdles and challenges that are launched against individuals, causing them to turn their backs away from the Lord. In the recent years, severe attacks can be seen in the acceptance of alternative lifestyles, such as homosexual marriages, one-parent families, and even women deliberately conceiving children out of wedlock with the intention of raising them on their own, without having to experience parenthood in the context of a marriage. What is the outcome of this? Just watch the news and you would see the direct and indirect impact of the lack of workability in a family.
God’s rules are protective, not restrictive.
We see homeless children, abusive men, struggling mothers, materialistic and self-centered teenagers, as well as a lot of ethical problems that were born because people insist on blurring the lines between right and wrong, as well as hundreds of sociological and mental problems that cause more stress, instead of happiness. Do you even see how the alternatives to traditional family are working? Won’t you agree that the problem is because you entered into a marriage without the slightest bit of idea of how it’s all supposed to work.
God’s rules are given so that we can have functioning relationship in the family. God’s rules are protective, not restrictive. The thing is when you obey God, it works, you feel the protection of God’s grace at work. When you are functioning according to your original design, you can ultimately enjoy being in a family.
