If we look at the different kinds of curses, those that deals with the family revolve around problems wherein the enemy is able to steal, kill, or destroy something from the family.
If we look at the different kinds of curses, those that deals with the family revolve around problems wherein the enemy is able to steal, kill, or destroy something from the family. These family curses include emotional instability or fear, hereditary family sickness, chronic wounds, barrenness or impotence, as well as family breakdowns or divorce, lack or poverty, no vision or ambition, bondage and slavery, and curses without a cause.
The fathers have a huge role in the reason why curses come to the family in the first place.
In order to break free from curses, you need to recognize if your family has been cursed. The Bible is clear that God visits the iniquity of the fathers upon the children up to the third and fourth generation (Exo. 20:5). Curses do not rest on a family without a cause, when someone up in the person’s family tree gives demons the right to visit, because of sin, they would have an open door to mess up your life. The fathers have a huge role in the reason why curses come to the family in the first place. Nevertheless, Christ’s deliverance is readily available to free the children from the generational curse, once these family curses are exposed.
Before you can break generational curses, there is a need to identify what they look like. Recurring patterns of the curses mentioned above might mean your family is under a curse because of the sin of the father in the previous generation. The curse of fatherlessness indeed comes as a product of family breakdowns or divorce, or it can also be from hereditary family illness that claims the lives of the fathers too soon.
The curse of family breakdowns manifest in different ways, such as divorce, separations, family division, fights among relatives, families scattering, no fellowship, jailed children, and estranged relationships. Below we see how this curse was evident in the Bible.
30 You shall become engaged to a woman, but another man shall lie with her. You shall build a house, but not live in it. You shall plant a vineyard, but not enjoy its fruit. (Deuteronomy 28:30)
The iniquities of the fathers mean that they would have an estranged relationship with their children.
The divorce rate in the United States alone represent 50% of the first marriages, 67% of the second marriages, and 74% of the third marriages. Children — and the future generations after — are the ones affected by this family curse. In Deuteronomy 28:32, it tells us that “Your sons and daughters shall be given to another people, while you look on; you will strain your eyes looking for them all day but be powerless to do anything.” The iniquities of the fathers mean that they would have an estranged relationship with their children. In the country, here are the metrics for the effects of the curse of the family breakdown:
- 2 million children are born in fatherless homes.
- 8 million children are latchkey kids.
- 36% of kids grow up without a father.
- 75% of kids on drugs come from single-parent homes.
- 63% of youth suicides come from single-parent homes.
- 70% of teen pregnancies come from single-parent homes.
- 75% of jailed juveniles come from single-parent homes.
