Along with the privilege of entering the Promised Land, God also gave them responsibilities, as they hear about the laws concerning the first dough (Num. 15:17-21). God is promising that He would give them the Promised Land, and as a response, they are to make an offering from everything the land produces. In the days to come, though, they were also to take the first portion of every batch of dough and present it to the Lord. This law also assumes that the people will receive the promise of the land, which will provide grain and flour in abundance. The call to bring in the offering presupposes that the Lord would give provision for the contribution, just like the way He did for Abraham on Mount Moriah. 41

Aside from the first fruits, the Lord also commanded that they are to bring the first cake out of every batch of bread that they prepared to the priest as a gift to the Lord. In that way the one who prepares the food would regularly be reminded of the one from whom their daily bread came.
