“The most critical need of the church at this moment is men, bold men, free men. The church must seek, in prayer and much humility, the coming again of men made of the stuff of which prophets and martyrs are made.”

The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place; he made it known by sending his angel to his servant John,

Revelation 1:1 NRSV

The Holy Spirit is the one responsible for moving you from one spiritual season into another in your prophetic ministry. We participate and cooperate with the Holy Spirit, but it is ultimately, his power that enables you to move from one stage to the next. It’s important to be aware that not all seasons seem pleasant at that time.

The character of the prophet is always more important to God than his gifting.

In His love and wisdom, our Father also ordains seasons of pruning, testing or wilderness times, to grow us in our call, gifts and character. The character of the prophet is always more important to God than his gifting. Times of pruning and testing are given in order to mold the prophet to be more like Jesus.

Abraham for example, experienced different seasons in his life and ministry — from His calling, from going out of Ur, going into the wilderness, receiving the son they were promised, being called to sacrifice this son, and his family going into the Promised Land. Abraham’s journey of faith was not a walk in the park, but it was the most difficult times that caused his faith to grow. Spiritual seasons apply to the overall call of God in our lives. They refer to the development of individual spiritual gifts, such as that of the gift of prophecy.

Abraham’s journey of faith was not a walk in the park, but it was the most difficult times that caused his faith to grow.
