Another characteristic of man is being spontaneous. This speaks about curiosity and the desire to try things out. Many of the inventions we have today came out of experiments. As a matter of fact, some of them were mistakes of creation. In the bible, we see how the men decided to build a city and a tower with virtually nothing. They were going somewhere, and they found a plain. Immediately, a dream kicked in and they decided to build a city and tower. This was not a time in history where they had tractors or other heavy machinery for lifting building materials. Yet, they chose to explore. They were creative. They transformed what was available into what was desirable. Scripture records,

“And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for mortar. And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.” (Genesis 11: 3-4, KJV)

We see them being spontaneous and being creative. Many of humanity’s problems have been solved by this kind of curiosity and creativity. In the midst of challenges, we are meant to act like God –our Creator. God created the heaven and the earth literally out of nothing. He called light to come out of darkness. He made the dry land to appear from the midst of the waters causing a separation between the waters and the lands. Everything God did in the beginning was creative. This is why He is also called Jehovah Elohim (The Creator). Naturally, every child is born inquisitive. The curiosity of a child is not meant to be killed. Rather it is meant to be guided and directed. It was Albert Einstein that said, “Imagination is more important than knowledge.” The knowledge we have today was a direct result of men and women choosing to be curious, to ask questions, and to find out the reasons why things appear as they are.
