What is today’s children going to experience?

We have already observed that a large proportion of children in contemporary Britain are spiritually ignorant. They are totally out of touch with any congregation of Christian believers.

The church must make the next generation a priority. They must be creative. The church must engage the young people so that they would desire the Word of God. The future of the nation, the church, and families depend on how you mentor these kids.

Many thousands of people, Christians, and unbelievers alike are concerned about the moral vulnerability of children in modern society. They are bereft of responsible parental care and good moral example. Who are their role models? Some are even exposed to pornography, victims of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, an alarming number of British children have lost their innocence in their earliest years.

God’s design for childhood

God’s purpose was that the years of infancy and early childhood should be crowded with happy memories. But many children have never known the love, peace, and protection of a secure home. Those who deliberately corrupt little children in this life can certainly anticipate God’s severe judgment in the next.

Warnings about corruption, tyranny, and inequity were indeed necessary for Israel. On many occasions, the Hebrew prophets exposed the corrupt practices of materialistic judges and their heartless indifference to the cry of the widow and the fatherless. In the eighth century B.C., Amos criticized people in the northern kingdom who would go to any length to acquire a bit more silver and even ‘sell … the needy for a pair of sandals. Such greedy citizens’ trample the head of the poor into the dust of the earth’.

They ‘afflict the righteous’ and ‘take a bribe.’ 149 In the southern kingdom (Judah) Isaiah grieved over those sick materialists who loved a bribe and would run after gifts: ‘They do not defend the cause of the fatherless, and the widow’s cause does not come before them.’ He knew of judges who would ‘acquit the guilty for a bribe but deny justice to the innocent.’ They were so set on acquiring riches that they ‘deprive the poor of their rights’… making widows their prey and robbing the fatherless.
