Let us look at Hebrews 11 to reveal conversations of enrollment, invitation, and specifically registration. It is the recipe of faith that the Bible has presented. Let us see how we can apply this recipe in the church today. As we look to these biblical accounts, let us keep an open mind to witness the birth of a church of possibility.
Abel
The Bible tells us, “By faith Abel brought God a better offering than Cain did. By faith he was commended as righteous, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith Abel still speaks, even though he is dead” (Hebrews 11:4).
Abel registered his offering to God. His offering is the first offering that we see in the bible in the Book of Genesis (Genesis 4:4). Abel brought fat portions of the firstborn of his flock. Thus, the Lord’s favor was upon his offering. Abel registered the Lord.
Enoch
Enoch was one of the men in the Bible who never experienced death. What did he do to merit such a thing? Nothing extravagant. The Bible said, “Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away” (Genesis 5:24). The account below shows the fact that he simply walked faithfully with God please the Lord. It registered God.
Noah
Noah preached on earth for 120 years. His intention was to enroll the people into God’s grace and goodness. He preached to the people but they were stuck in the past; they were stuck in their wickedness. He offered an invitation, but Noah only found himself and his family in the ark.
Abraham
When we look at the life of Abraham, we will observe powerful registration conversations. Abraham was called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance. His choice in this registration conversation with God was to go, to leave his homeland. He said, “yes” to God. He stepped out of his comfort zone and by faith journeyed to the Promised Land, “even though he did not know where he was going” (Hebrews 11:8).
Jacob
Jacob registered himself as the firstborn. Registration has nothing to do with physical status or appearance. Even if biologically, Esau was the firstborn of the twins, Esau failed to register himself to God. Jacob ended up with Isaac’s blessing.
Registration is a spiritual act. Many people register for a class physically. But they failed to do so in the spirit. This is why they fail the subject. They never registered spiritually in order to experience the products of registration.
