Key 2: BE SENSITIVE TO GOD’S VOICE IN YOUR MIND

Habakkuk was aware that if he wanted to hear God’s quiet, inner, spontaneous thoughts, he needed to be intentional about it. He need to go to a quiet place and rest his mind, so he can still his own thoughts and emotions. He said in Habakkuk 2:1, “I will stand on my guard post.” He needed to isolate himself from the rest of the world.

Psalm 62:5 echoes this advice. The psalmist encourages us to silence our souls before God. There is a deep inner knowing (spontaneous voice) in our spirits that each of us sense when we quiet ourselves and our minds. If we are not still, we wouldn’t sense our thoughts.

Loving God through a quiet worship song is an effective way to become still. Read 2 Kings 3:15 and see what went on there. When you worship God and become silent within, you open your mouth and experience a spontaneous prophetic flow. If thoughts come of things you have forgotten to do, write them down so that you can do them later. If thoughts of guilt and unworthiness come, repent and turn to the Lord. Receive the cleansing of the blood of God, put on His robe of righteousness, see yourself spotless before God (Isa. 61:10; Col. 1:22).

Clear focus can provide you the purest flow. In order to receive the pure word of God, it’s important that your heart is properly focused as you become still. The intuitive flow comes out of the vision being held before one’s eyes. If you fix your eyes upon Jesus, the intuitive flow is pure and comes from Jesus. However, if you fix your gaze upon some specific desire of your heart, the intuitive flow is directed by that desire. To have a pure flow, you must become still and carefully fix your eyes upon Jesus (Heb. 12:2).

How did Jesus teach us how to pray? He wanted us to start with

acknowledging the Father, and by hallowing His Name. Jesus taught us to begin prayer by lifting our eyes to our Father and beholding Him. We don’t start prayer with our issues, with the things we need, or with our requests. We start prayer by gazing upon the face of the Lord, not by seeking His hand. When we

allow our thoughts to be purified by focusing on the glory of God, the prophetic flow will come.
